SOYFREE SUGARFREE
A nutrient-dense plan designed to help clients manage gallbladder disease and their overall health.
A balanced diet can help maintain good health and prevent gallbladder disease. This plan targets nutrients such as healthy fats, lean protein, fiber, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, folate and sodium.
This program was created with the following key considerations:
Balanced Fat Profile
Foods high in fat, especially saturated fat are associated with increased gallstone disease risk. On the other hand, a high intake of monounsaturated fats, olive oil, and fish consumption provides a protective role by improving the quality of bile and regulating gallbladder contractions. This program limits saturated fat to less than 15 grams per day and includes omega-3 fats from salmon and monounsaturated fats from olive oil, almond butter, and flax seeds.
Protein
Choosing lean protein and vegetarian protein options may lower symptomatic gallstone disease via cholesterol lowering. This plan provides lean animal protein choices like chicken breast, salmon, and low-fat dairy products and incorporates plant-based alternatives like black beans, chickpeas, and nuts.
Fiber
This program is rich in legumes, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to provide a daily total fiber amount of up to 50 grams. Dietary fiber may shorten the intestinal transit time and may contribute to a lower risk of gallstone disease.
Vitamins & Minerals
A deficiency of vitamin C has been associated with an increased risk of cholesterol gallstone formation. Minerals like calcium, magnesium, and folate may help prevent the development of gallstones. These vitamins and minerals are incorporated through fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes.
Low Sodium
This program takes inspiration from the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet where guidelines recommend restricting sodium to less than 2000 milligrams per day. The plan provides less than 1300 milligrams of sodium daily.
